Saurav Ganguly, a prominent figure in the realm of Rabindrasangeet, has been honored with the esteemed Rabindra Ratna Puraskar 2024 award by Veyil Foundation. Apart from his role as an educator, Ganguly boasts an impressive academic history. He pursued his education at A.K. Ghosh Memorial School, Path Bhavan, Presidency College, and Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. Holding a postgraduate degree in Bengali language and literature, Ganguly's expertise primarily lies in the research and analysis of Rabindrasangeet.
Ganguly has undergone training in this art form under the tutelage of renowned artists like Suchitra Mitra, Late Maya Sen, and Dr. Chitralekha Chowdhury. Furthermore, he has delved into the realm of classical vocal music with guidance from Sri Mahendranath Bandopadhyay and Smt. Arundhati Gupta. His profound knowledge and unwavering passion for Rabindranath Tagore's creations have spurred him to pen numerous articles for various esteemed publications such as "Ekaler Roktokorobi," "Dolchhut," "Sureer Jagat," and many more. Notably, he even took on the role of guest editor for the centenary edition of "Suchitra Mitra" in the Hundred Miles magazine.
Ganguly's expertise has garnered national recognition, evident from his invitation to speak on Rabindrasangeet at the Delhi Sahitya Akademi in October 2019. Actively engaged with the "Uttarayan" music group, Ganguly has made significant contributions to programs and discussions centered around Rabindrasangeet. His remarkable contributions to the field of music have been duly acknowledged through the 'Balendranath Tagore memorial scholarship' bestowed upon him by the West Bengal Music, Dance, Drama, and Fine Arts Academy.
