In a move to immediately de-escalate the situation in West Asia, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with his counterparts of Germany, France and the UK in Geneva today. As per media reports, the Ministerial delegation of three European nations will first meet with the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, at Germany’s permanent mission in Geneva before holding nuclear talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister.

On the other hand, Russia has said that a change of regime in Iran will be unacceptable. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the assassination of the country’s Supreme Leader will open Pandora’s box. Russia also warned the US against military intervention in the Iran-Israel conflict.

Akashvani Correspondent reports that senior diplomats from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany are set to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Geneva, in a bid to defuse rising tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program. Also attending the talks is the European Union’s foreign policy chief, as negotiators work to carve out a two-week window for diplomacy aimed at preventing further escalation. The meeting comes amid mounting global concern that the region is teetering on the edge of open conflict, one that could destabilise West Asia and trigger a humanitarian crisis. The diplomatic effort is also seen as a crucial step ahead of next week’s NATO leaders’ summit in The Hague, where security in the region will top the agenda. European officials are pushing urgently for dialogue, warning that continued military pressure on Iran could lead to regime collapse and mass displacement. Meanwhile, Moscow has condemned the military assaults on Iran, throwing its support behind Tehran and urging a peaceful resolution. U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to make a definitive call on American involvement, stating that a decision will be made within two weeks.

Meanwhile, the conflict between Israel and Iran has entered its seventh day. Israel Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that Iran fired missiles in southern Israel today. In response, Israel’s military campaign has expanded beyond traditional military targets to include state institutions in Tehran. Western and regional officials indicate that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strategy aims not only to degrade Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities but also to undermine the fundamental structures of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s regime. The European Union has issued calls for restraint and adherence to international law, warning of risks including radioactive contamination and broader humanitarian consequences.
