Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls For Strong Turnout In Rescheduled Presidential Election Following President Raisi’s Death

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called for a strong turnout in the upcoming presidential election of the country, scheduled for Friday. He termed the election an important test for Iran. He made these remarks yesterday on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir.

 

Mr. Khamenei stated that the next president should firmly believe in the principles and foundations of the Islamic Revolution and that a strong turnout will bring a qualified candidate and pride to Iran.

 

The 14th presidential election of Iran, initially set for 2025, was rescheduled following the unexpected death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19th of this year in East Azerbaijan.
